Why?
We are at a turning point of human history. The Singularity Era has arrived, powerful enough to solve humanity’s greatest challenges, or cause deadly catastrophes. AI can unleash humanity’s fullest potential, but only when it is developed, deployed and used responsibly. Aligning AI with human flourishing is not the task of one institute, one company or one government, it can only be achieved when we all come together.
What?
The haia value framework is an iterative, open-source framework built by a multi-stakeholder, multi-disciplinary consortium of experts and organisations, as well as through direct inputs from the general public. This value framework not only respects fundamental ethical principles such as universal human rights, but also takes into considerations what human flourishing means for diverse groups in the Singularity Era.
Who?
haia welcomes different types of members. Expert, research institutes and organisations in haia must be recognised as having, or being able to have, a significant influence on the development of AI and its usage in society globally. haia is also open to any verified human and AI researchers to allow democratic participation in AI value development.
How?
Using the member-driven haia value framework, we assess and evaluate AI models against values that are aligned with human flourishing. Certification schemes based on haia benchmark can be used to drive global AI regulatory efforts as well as adjustments of economic incentives for the future of AI.
When?
haia is currently in the sign-up phase and will launch later in 2024.
